Writing and the Arts first meeting was held October 18th. The meeting began with a writing activity involving an object. This is a great way to get your students involved in writing - have them bring an object from home to use in a writing center. Participants wrote stories, poems and lists about the objects. Next, Nanette Musters presented a lesson on how to create a Storyteller. If you check under 'Great Websites' there is an informational article about telling stories in clay. The teachers got right to work creating their very own Storyteller. The results were amazing. I think the teachers were surprised at their own talents. Can you imagine how a child in your classroom will feel? Next, the particpants broke up into smaller groups to have a discussion on how to use the art project to create writing experiences for their students.
