These elementary students presented their writings to a packed audience on Wednesday the 19th at Rice University. The students ranging from first graders to fourth graders did an amazing job reading their work. There were also several group poems presented that made the audience smile from ear to ear. The students worked so hard and it shows! One student exclaimed, "your right when you finish reading you are so happy!" Another told me that in the parking lot a woman she did not know told her that her poem was beautiful. The power of the written word binds us together in ways we cannot see. The afternoon was a powerful testament to the dedication of the teachers who worked after school to collaborate and bring the writing experience into their classrooms. Thank you all for your time, effort and determination to make this Annual Spring Reading of The School Writing Project such a success!Photos by Scott Corron
