The Grand Hall at Rice University was transformed into the School Writing Project's Annual Spring Reading. The artwork and writing by the students changed the room into a student friendly oasis. The students from Mark Twain and Lantrip Elementary arrived to find their memory boards adorning the walls and their quotes about writing displayed for all to read. There were over 200 people in attendance to hear the amazing writing created by these young, talented students. The audience was wowed with the quality of the writing. I do not think I am exaggerating when I say there were moments when the audience cried, laughed and cheered as one. The community created by the parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, and supporters was nothing short of extraordinary. Thank you everyone for being a part of this special moment.Saturday, May 22, 2010
